SIEM REAP — Cambodian cyclist Tiv Dararith has officially completed his two-year cycling campaign during which he raised more than $260,000 to support two children’s hospitals in Siem Reap.

The “Cycling Around the World for Cambodian Children” campaign began on June 6, 2024, and concluded on July 3, 2026. To mark this milestone, Dararith and a group of cyclists in Siem Reap rode a short ceremonial route from the large Srah Srang water reservoir in the Angkor Archaeological Park to Angkor Hospital for Children, where the journey both had begun and ended.

Over the course of the campaign, Dararith cycled approximately 60,000 kilometers across three continents—Asia, Europe and Africa—and around 40 countries to raise awareness and funds for children’s healthcare in Cambodia.

Speaking at the closing ceremony, which drew a large crowd of supporters, Dararith expressed his gratitude to everyone who contributed to the campaign’s success including sponsors, partners, volunteers and members of the public.

He gave special thanks to his parents, family, friends and supporters, saying that their encouragement, emotional support and financial contributions had kept him motivated throughout the journey.

Dararith also thanked journalists and media organizations for sharing his story with audiences in Cambodia and abroad, which helped raise awareness of the campaign and encouraged people to contribute to its cause.

“I hope this journey will inspire younger generations to persevere through challenges and become more involved in social and humanitarian initiatives,” he said.

During the ceremony, Dr. Nguon Chanpheaktra, director of Angkor Hospital for Children, said that he was truly proud of Dararith for successfully completing this demanding two-year mission. He also pointed out that this had been Dararith’s second fundraising cycling campaign for Cambodian children.

During his first campaign completed in 2023, Dararith had cycled across six countries in Asia and raised $56,000 for Angkor Hospital for Children.

According to Chanpheaktra, about 50,000 donors contributed to the latest campaign, helping raise a total of $260,243. The funds will be divided equally between Angkor Hospital for Children and Kantha Bopha Children’s Hospital to support pediatric healthcare services.

Siem Reap Deputy Governor Ly Sary praised Dararith’s achievement, saying that the 60,000-kilometer journey across 40 countries represented far more than physical distance or the passage of time. “It is a testament to his extraordinary compassion and willingness to dedicate his strength, determination and time to bringing hope and smiles to children in need,” he said.

Sary added that the campaign also carried a message of peace and humanity. Every turn of the bicycle wheels helped raise international awareness of the healthcare needs of Cambodian children while reflecting Dararith’s resilience and unwavering commitment, he said

“Every kilometer he traveled represented hope and a new chance at life for thousands of Cambodian children receiving treatment,” Sary said, at Angkor Hospital for Children and at Kantha Bopha Children’s Hospital.
