LONDON, Sept 17 – The Embassy of Indonesia, in collaboration with Efeca, Partnerships for Forests, UK International Development, and the British Chamber of Commerce and APP Group brought together nine women smallholders across four key Indonesian export commodities—coffee, palm oil, cocoa, and rubber at the Multi-Stakeholder Event on Indonesian Sustainable Commodities on September 17, 2025
In his opening remarks, Indonesia’s Ambassador to the UK, Desra Percaya, highlighted inclusivity as a vital part of Indonesia’s sustainability journey: “Inclusivity is key in this transformation journey, which means embracing more diverse narratives of the unheard, like the smallholders, is essential.”
The nine inspiring Indonesian women smallholders, shared their farms, their stories, and the real impact of global sustainability rules that too often overlook them. The farmers stressed that sustainability regulations in the UK and globally must not overlook smallholders, who form the backbone of supply chains.
This cross-commodity event brought together Indonesian and UKindustry leaders, policymakers, and advocates to share insights and policies and to explore how Indonesia’ agricultural commodities and forest products contribute to a more sustainable future.
