PETALING JAYA: Senior minister for security Ismail Sabri Yaakob has warned of parties claiming to be Covid-19 vaccine agents, following reports of vaccines being sold online.
He said only the science, technology and innovation ministry and the health ministry are authorised to manage the National Covid-19 Immunisation Programme.
“I hope that the rakyat won’t be easily deceived by those claiming they were tasked with administering the vaccines. Do not be influenced by offers from other parties,” he said during a press conference today.
“A lot of people are already taking advantage, some have already approached people claiming to be vaccine agents.”
He said the public may report the matter to either ministry.
Speaking on the arrests yesterday, he said 499 people were detained, 492 were given compounds, four were remanded and three were given bail.
Among the offences were participating in activities at entertainment centres (134), failure to provide materials for contact tracing or registration of customers (86), failure to wear a face mask (62), flouting physical distancing rules (58), premises operating beyond permitted hours or without permission (28), crossing state or district borders without permission (27), and others (104).
Ismail also said authorities nabbed 12 illegal immigrants and seized six vehicles under Op Benteng.
