The media conference focused on the introduction of the Covid-19 vaccine internationally, as well as questions regarding the coronavirus itself.
Sharing the video on Twitter, prominent Malaysian lawyer and human rights advocate Datuk Ambiga Sreenevasan pointed out that Dr Adeeba is very accomplished and recognised person.
Who is this Malaysian medical superwoman?
Currently, she is the Dean of the Faculty of Medicine at University of Malaya and an Adjunct Associate Professor at Yale University, USA.
Her area of expertise is in infectious and communicable diseases, which is why she would also be familiar with coronaviruses, even if her focus has been on AIDS.
In fact, she was on the very same investigation team that discovered the Nipah virus, which was also a coronavirus spread by fruit bats which originated in Sungai Nipah, Ipoh!
For her efforts in tackling the Nipah virus, she was awarded the Tun Mahathir Science Award as well as the Merdeka Award.
She has also been an Expert Panel member at the World Health Organization since 2017, in addition to all her numerous accolades in relation to the HIV pandemic internationally.
State Task Force VS Federal Task Force
Currently, she is part of the Selangor State Task Force against Covid-19. This task force operates at the state level and is meant to complement Covid-19 efforts by the Health Ministry at the federal level.
The Selangor State Task Force is helmed by 7 doctors, headed by former Health Minister Datuk Seri Dr Dzulkefly Ahmad.
