LONDON – Diwali, the Festival of Light, was held in Trafalgar Square, on October 27. Diwali is an important celebration for Hindus and Jains, with Sikhs also marking Bandi Chhor Divas on the same day.

 Hundreds of dancers wearing multicoloured saris opened the event      Thousands of people attended the free celebration of light and colour in central London.  

Live performances included traditional and contemporary music and dance performances from talented artists across the UK. Attendees Indulged in a wide array of authentic Indian delicacies, from delicious street food to sweet treats and sari and turban-tying workshops.

Mayor of London Sadiq Khan said the event “brings together Londoners and visitors of all backgrounds”

   The Trafalgar Square event is organised by the Diwali in London Committee and the Mayor of London, and is held every year.
