Children of the Mekong
H.E. Kan Pharidh, Cambodian Ambassador and Eugenie Munakarmi of Children of the Mekong
LONDON – Children of the Mekong is the UK branch of Enfants du Mekong, a French charity founded in Laos in 1958. Its mission is to educate, train and mentor the poorest children and young people. It has sponsorship programmes, developments projects, education centres and foster houses in six countries of Southeast Asia: Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar, the Philippines, Thailand and Vietnam.
Children of the Mekong has been working alongside ethnic minorities for decades, finding local ways in which to improve the standard of living and to allow motivated children toget an education and thus to break the cycle of poverty.
Eugenie Munakarmi develops the charity internationally. She is based in London, UK, and works with a dynamic team of interns and volunteers.
