Cambodia to grow Cannabis for export to USA?

A Japanese company is exploring the possibility of growing marijuana in Cambodia for export to Japan and the USA.
PHNOM PENH – On June 14, HE Veng Sakhon, Minister of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries, met with the Director General of Japanese company, Yamato Green.
The two sides discussed the possibility of an investment partnership for the development of productivity, production and export of marijuana plants.
The company says that marijuana is a medicinal plant for the health sector and a medicine.
Yamato Green further states that many companies are interested in investing in Cambodia, bringing seeds from the United States and finished products to the United States and Japan.
The company added that Thailand and Korea are currently licensed for cultivation and processing and are exporting to the United States and Japan on technical and scientific contractual terms.
Yamato Green’s mission satement says: “Yamato Green Co., Ltd believes that agriculture and food processing are essential for the revival of the Cambodian economy and the creation of a hopeful society.
