Kith Meng, president of the Cambodian Chamber of Commerce and chairman and CEO of The Royal Group, and his wife Mao Chamnan, have given $2 million to Cambodia’s government to be used for purchasing Nokor Tep Hospital, which has been turned a designated treatment centre for COVID-19 patients.
The donation was made after Prime Minister Hun Sen announced that the government will buy the hospital and rename it “Queen Mother Hospital” in honour of the Queen Mother Norodom Monineath.
Kith Meng has made significant contribution to assist Cambodia in fighting coronavirus since the first case was reported in Cambodia in January last year. Besides the latest donation, , Meng and his family contributed $3 million to the government to be used in its fight against the February 20 Community Event on March 11, in addition to the $3 million they had already donated to purchase COVID-19 vaccines for the Cambodian people.
Last week, the family also offered $50,000 to Samdech Techo Voluntary Youth Doctor Association (TYDA), who are now working hard to contain the community infection of COVID-19, also known as the February 20 Event.
