Thailand kicks off its own Olympic flag relay “Flag of the Nation” for 92.6 kilometers across Thailand

Bangkok –Thailand kicked off its own Olympic flag relay titled “Flag of the Nation” at the early hours of this morning, March 28th, running for a total of 92.6 kilometers in 61 days through 35 provinces across Thailand.
Starting from Bangkok, the Thai flag will be carried by 4,568 bearers by athletes, celebrities, and members of the public before being delivered to Suvarnabhumi Airport to take off along with Thai Olympic athletes on May 27th to Japan.
The first bearer was Somrak Kamsing, a 1988-Olympic gold medal-winning amateur boxer, who started the relay at the Sports Authority of Thailand at the Huamak district as of 5:00 AM. He was running for a distance of 1 km to Ramkhamhaeng University before passing to the next runner in the second point.
The flag runners will make their way through 35 provinces, particularly in Bangkok, Samut Sakhon, Samut Songkhram, Phetchaburi, Prachuap Khiri Khan, Chumphon, Surat Thani, Nakhon Si Thammarat, Songkhla, Phatthalung, Ratchaburi, Nakhon Pathom, Kanchanaburi, Suphan Buri, Chainat, Nakhon Sawan, Kamphaeng, Phet Tak, Pang Lap, Lamphun, Chiang Mai, Phrae, Uttaradit, Phitsanulok, Phetchabun, Chaiyaphum, Khon Kaen, Nakhon Ratchasima, Buri Ram, Sa Kaeo, Chanthaburi, Rayong, Chon Buri, Chachoengsao, and Samut Prakan.
Spectators are welcomed to watch the event under strict health measures of the Public Health Ministry to prevent the spread of the Covid-19 Coronavirus.
