PHNOM PENH – Prime Minister Hun Sen has appealed to relevant ministries to promote social morality, values of women and prevent violence against them.

Today, Cambodia celebrates International Women’s Day under the theme “Women and Development in the context of the COVID-19”.

Mr Hun Sen requested that the coverage of social protection systems be expanded, including the well-being of women and girls, with the implementation of all social assistance programmes to them during the COVID-19 pandemic.

“Please continue strengthening women’s economic empowerment by increasing women’s business awareness and development, micro, small and medium enterprise (MSME) business development, strengthening vocational training and financial environment to the woman during COVID-19,” he said.

In January, The third National Action Plan to Prevent Violence Against Women for 2019-2023 was successfully launched after rigorous evaluation from the government and women’s organisations in Cambodia.
