JAKARTAReady-to-wear collections all made in viscose rayon graced the virtual runway of fashion collaborative space Jakarta Fashion Hub, or JFH, on Wednesday.

The virtual fashion show featured four labels, namely Purana, Interim Clothing, Eureka, and KC Sleepwear. All collections sported viscose rayon produced by Asia Pacific Rayon (APR) as their main fabric. The show was also live on Instagram @jakartafashionhub.

“Amid the lifestyle changes due to the pandemic, the presented designs are all stylish and flexible for daily wear be it for at-home or outdoor activities. This is why the virtual fashion show carries the theme ‘Lounge ‘n Leisure,” APR corporate communications head Djarot Handoko said in his written statement on Wednesday.

According to Djarot, the use of biodegradable viscose rayon champions sustainable fashion. Not only environmentally friendly, viscose rayon absorbs more dyes and thus more vibrant in color. Its lightweight and smooth texture is suitable for daily wear.

Aligning with the campaigns ‘Everything Indonesia’ and ‘Bangga Buatan Indonesia’ (Proud of Indonesian Products), APR and JFH are committed to support local designers and fashion labels to be creative using viscose rayon sourced from Indonesia’s very own land, he said.

One of the collections shown was Synchronized which was a collaboration between Purana and photographer Hakim Satriyo. The collection comprises loungewear in various motifs and colors. Purana printed Hakim’s photographic works onto the leftover fabric then later mixed it with APR’s viscose rayon material.

The Synchronized collection also had a unique coloring process. For instance, the red color, which represents the element of fire, was created by burning and pan-frying the cloth. For its blue color, Purana froze watercolors in the refrigerator to create a unique shape.

Stuck at home, many people miss taking a vacation especially to the tourist-favorite Bali. KC Sleepwear’s Seminyak collection recreates vacation moments with day dresses and a combination of top and shorts.

Welcoming the Chinese New Year, Eureka’s loungewear represent the lucky colors of the Metal Ox year, namely steel blue, mint green, and red. The Chinese knots and Mandarin collars represent the festivity of the Chinese New Year.

The show ended with a live shopping event which directly connected customers with the fashion label. Hosting the event were “Asia Next Top Model Season 3” winner Ayu Gani and radio announcer Bayu Oktara.

APR  launched JFH last year as a space for fashion enthusiasts to explore their creativity. Located in the Tanoto Foundation Building in downtown Jakarta, JFH acts as a collaborative space between fashionistas, designers, and industry players to bolster the local fashion and textile industry.
