NAYPYITAW – Myanmar’s political parties launched their campaigns for November’s election on Tuesday, which marked the beginning of the official campaign period.
In Naypyitaw, Daw Aung San Suu Kyi personally raised the flag of the ruling National League for Democracy, which she leads, at the party’s headquarters.
Through the media, she urged people to vote for the NLD. On the same day, former general [U/Thura?] Shwe Mann, a one-time ally of Daw Aung San Suu Kyi, toured the capital to attend the unveiling of campaign billboards for his Union Betterment Party.
Meanwhile in Yangon, former 88 Generation Students leader U Ko Ko Gyi and members of his People’s Party marched in the neighborhood of Yangon University, introducing the party’s candidates to the public.
