PHNOM PENH – Nation wide noodles party kicked off today as Prime Minister Hun Sen said that the event is aimed at showing love and solidarity.
With thousands of people eating noodles hosted today by government officials, Mr Hun Sen said in his Facebook post that the gathering was clearly reflective of a strong friendship, solidarity and national unity.
“Please enjoy eating noodles this weekend. I like to thank those who organised noodles party gatherings without any religious affiliation or political discrimination,” he said. “I wish all of you happiness and good luck.”
Phnom Penh City Hall today hosted a noodles party where hundreds of people participated and led by governor Khuong Sreng.
Mr Sreng said besides a show of friendship and solidarity, the gathering also promoted Cambodian food such as Khmer noodles, one of the popular snacks among Cambodian people everywhere.
Last week, Mr Hun Sen called on CPP officials to invite former opposition party members to eat noodles with them in a show of solidarity following criticism from former CNRP officials who were questioned by Battambang provincial court for allegedly violating a Supreme Court decision dissolving the party.
